LRD

There's something about wearing the color red that makes me feel a little sassier than usual. I recommend every girl add a LRD (little red dress) to her wardrobe. It looks like the temperature is finally dropping this week, which is a intro to my favorite time of the year, Fall.

I've been in a big "self-care" type of mood lately and have switched up my daily routine. Instead of listening to music every day on my way to/from work I've switched to podcasts (Oprah's Super Soul Conversations currently). Sometimes you just need to refresh your mind and throw in a little (or a lot) of daily positivity. Reading has been another thing I've introduced back into my nightly routine. I'm currently reading "It's Not Supposed to Be This Way" which has also been a great mental refresher.

Looking forward to seeing what October has to offer!

ALL RUFFLED UP

For this look, I ventured down to the Bishop Arts District of Dallas. Oak Cliff is evolving so much lately, from the restaurants and shopping to hot new living areas. I did have to endure some cat-calling and whistles during this photo shoot though...but I took it like a champ to get the perfect shot.

With this look, I feel like I should have ended my night salsa dancing at a Latin club. I'm a big fan of prints lately and mini skirts, so this dalmatian print skirt was a total score. (also comes in 3 different colors) This was my first time giving the micro purse a chance and I definitely like it. I will say the even smaller "micro bags" look a little ridiculous to me. If I can't at least fit my car keys and a lipstick in the purse, then it's a no-go for me.

MID-YEAR RESOLUTION

Do you ever have certain pieces in your closet that you were so excited to buy but then never get around to wearing? This outfit was one of those cases for me. Was super thrilled over this snake print skirt but then it sat in my closet for months.

It's my mid-year goal to start wearing all these pieces that have never seen the light of day, so get ready for a lot more blog posts soon!

WEDDING GUEST SEASON

'Tis the season for summer weddings! I love a good excuse to look for a brand new dress. When I was younger, every time I told my dad I needed a new dress for an event he would respond "but you have a big closet full of clothes?". And to this day, I still go looking for a new dress for events *sorry Dad to disappoint you* I'm sure I will say the same thing to my kids one day.

This entire outfit was put together from Asos. That is my typical go-to online shop when I'm needing a wedding guest dress. Lots of good options for all styles (mini, midi, maxi) and a variety of price ranges. I also love this site because they offer Tall, Petite, Curve and even Maternity options.

Here's my tips and tricks for the perfect wedding guest attire:

1. Pay attention to the location. If the wedding is outside (like this one was) be sure to pick a dress you're going to be comfortable in all night. I went with a flared look because it's a more breathable style for myself.

2. Shoes shoes shoes. As much as you want to wear those 6-inch heels, consider how long you'll be on the dance floor. Open bar + dance floor + tall heels = a potential disaster!

3. Spanx are your friend, not your enemy. Shapewear is not just for thicker ladies, it enhances every woman's look if you ask me and just smoothes everything out. If you haven't already, invest in a pair.

4. Downsize your purse for the night. I love a good clutch, and I think they make the perfect accessory for a wedding. No one wants to lug around their big, daily purse to a wedding, especially when you're moving from the ceremony to the reception to the dance floor. Put your necessities in a clutch for the night (cards, ID, lipstick, etc)
